We then travelled to big sands caravan park to meet up with Tall Col, Lynn and kids. Good food, drinks and banter. The following morning Stuart and myself went up to Rubha Reidh lighthouse to hike out to Camus Mor, where we checked out the bothy and beach. We met a fellow from Fort Augustus who'd been camping there with his dog the night before. Camus Mor is the beach where I started my solo big minch swim in 2019, good memories. Over the weekend we've been lucky to see some of the stunning coastline and scenery that Scotland has to offer. It truly is stunning. Photo's are in no specific order. A fantastic swim trip outing with Stuart over to Inverness to take part in the Kessock ferry swim. A very well organised event looking after 280-300 people. I was possibly the first male non wetsuit swimmer out of the sea. It was great seeing a lot of swim friends and enjoying the social side of open water swimming too. Even made it topless in the Sun newspaper, page 27, haha. Photo's are in no specific order. Click here for the link to the YouTube video from the outing. Cracking afternoon swim through the garrabost arch with Erin, Chris, Dave, Stuart, Eilidh and Seumas. We were pretty well sheltered from the wind, so we had an easy swim through the stacks, over to the ledge and on through the arch to the bay on the other side. A seal popped it's head up to say hello before we headed back to the slip. It definitely is a favourite place of mine. Click here for the link to the YouTube video from the outing. Fantastic swim at the river creed this morning with Kellie, Chris, Lucy, Dave, Catherine, Stuart and Eilidh. It was a low high tide so we had a wee bit of a scramble over the wall that connects the wee island to the castle grounds. With a swim against the current up river which is always good fun then launching ourselves downstream, it's great craic. Duckman was saying anything from 10.2 to 11.5 degrees. Ah yes, forgot to mention the dogfish cameo, it's a cracker 🤣 Click here for the link to the YouTube video from the outing. Thursday morning mile at Coll beach. Thanks to Anne for coming along. A lovely high tide at garrabost this evening and calm sea's made for a cracking place for a swim with Dave R. Round through the stacks, passed the wee island, over the ledge and a duck through the arch with much the same on the way back. All good fun and for free too. Cracking way to spend an evening with some swimming and pier jumping (always check first to make sure it's safe obviously) with Kellie, Connor, Catherine and Eilidh. Think Connor won the trophy for most jump's and most impressive one's too. Good craic. Click here for the link to the YouTube video from the outing. Dave & myself opted for the choppy side of holm this afternoon (calm sea's never made an experienced swimmer as they say) and it was braw fun in the waves. way too choppy for the cave, loads of jellyfish and birds of all sorts, crabs and little fish & I am almost 100% sure that I saw a little plaice trying to hide itself in the sand. We swam in a sheltered bay for a bit where we spotted a seal or 2 watching us. Anyway, it's a cracking spot for a mini adventure as we spent an hour in the sea. Duckman was saying a tropical 13.2 degrees average. Click for the link to the YouTube video from the outing. |
