Vango Neon UL1 Tent Review - 29.10.2022

*Amateur video alert* My first pitch of the Vango Neon UL1 Tent. Yes, I should have read the instructions before putting it up. Yes, I'll be swapping the insanely light/bendy/easy to lose pegs that came with it for my own preferred pegs. I'll certainly be practicing pitching the tent a few more times before I use it for SwimCamping. To be honest, I'm a 3 season camper so I'll probably not get to use the Neon now till next year but it definitely was a good bargain in the sale.

2018 Minch Swim attempts

8/10/2022

Found on a pendrive today - Simon Willis's recording of the 3 swim attempt's on the big minch channel between the Isle of Lewis and the Scottish mainland. Colleen managed her swim (non wetsuit - she's amazing) becoming the first person to swim the big minch channel ever. Norman Todd got pulled out of the sea and I went missing for 4-5 hour's, mostly in the dark. Day's after I was rescued, a friend figured out that if I'd be able to swim another mile, an eddy would have taken me into the shore. Hey ho, I organised my own solo swim in 2019 and successfully swam from the Scottish mainland to the Isle of Lewis, becoming the first man to do it (wetsuit) and becoming the first person to have swam both the Little and Big minch channels.

Great fun at the cauldron in point this morning with Catherine. Not recommended for people who don't know what they're doing 🙂

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

I've been a swimmer all my life and over the last several years I've done many challenging open water swims for charity all around our Islands which include the Sound of Barra & the Sound of Harris and both the Little & the Big Minch Channels to name a few.

Having a real passion for open water swimming, I spend a lot of my spare time looking for and discovering amazing new swim spots around the Islands.

I set up The Hebridean Sea Swimmers group in 2011 for all swimmers that live in or visit The Hebrides and it now has over 1000 members. I regularly meet up with visiting swimmers as I love to freely show off our Islands stunning swim locations.

SwimCamping and SwimHiking are my new adventures and having such an amazing playground on my doorstep is fantastic, double bagging my kit into the Lomo waterproof rucksack and swimming to an island for an overnight stay or longer is just the best.
