What a stunning sunny place for a swim this morning down the hill to Giordail beach. Thanks to Dave (for accompanying me in the sea) and to Helen (for spotting onshore). We managed to get through the sea stack arch a couple of times as the tide was very low. Jaggy rock's and what looks like dead man's finger's (see link below) there as well. Plenty of bird and sea life going on around the amazing coastline that Tolsta has to offer. Keep an eye out for flowerpot Dave in the video. Giordail is one of my favourite places to swim. Definitely no swimming for Stuart and myself during this outing on the west side of Lewis with the big rolling waves coming in. Still, it was amazing viewing (much better than watching telly) hiking from Dhailbeag over to Rubha na Beirghe where we camped overnight, listening to the roar of the waves crashing against the cliffs. In the morning we spotted golden eagle's and a white tailed sea eagle as well as seal's playing in the foamy sea. Stuart also saw a cuckoo..jammy as it was off before I turned my head. You could spend hours watching the waves burst through and against the arches. All music is by Beluga Lagoon. Click here to check out their website. This is something I enjoy doing. Location: Rubha na Beirghe near Dhailbeag, Isle of Lewis, Scotland. Tent: Vango Neon UL1 Footprint: Vango GP511, yes it should be the GP512 but Vango doesn't make it anymore so I sized up and bought the one for the F10 project hydrogen which fits really well. Sleep Mat: Sea to Summit Ultra light Mat Sleeping Bag: Vango Cobra 200 Pillow: Trekology Aluft Pillow 2.0 Some points for Vango: The pegs that come with the tent are terrible and I swapped them for my own ones. A sleeve or something similar for the main pole would have been better as it's very fiddly trying to pitch the main pole in the wind. Still, the tent held very well in the 20-30mph winds and there was a little condensation inside during the night above my head but I put that down to me being a big guy and a warm sleeper. The little condensation had gone by the morning. Link to the full video from the outing - click here. As it says in the video, adventure swimming isn't always about swimming. Some few photos from today's swim at Traigh Mhor, Tolsta with Stuart and Seumas. A superb place for adventure coastal swimming in the right conditions and if you know what you're doing. From eating dulse, scrambling through rocky gap's, seeing puffins to swishing through watery channels, the 3 of us had a great afternoon out. Thanks to Seumas for the post swim cake ☺️ Music is by Beluga Lagoon (click here for the link to their website) Click here to view the video from the outing. Quick after work swim with Kellie this evening at bayble beach. Nice bit of chop on the go. Fun times ☺️ Click here to view the YouTube Video from the outing. A cracker of an evening for a swim with friends at Coll beach. Seumas, Catherine, Sandy and myself went from the dune to the wall and back which was around 2.7k. Conditions couldn't have been much better to be honest. Noticed that wee jellyfish are starting to appear.... Click here to watch the YouTube Video from the outing. Was very interesting to see what the coast at the cemetery end of traigh mhor was like at low tide and this afternoon was the time for finding out. Swimming and scrambling combined made for a great wee adventure. Parts of old ship's that I'd usually be swimming over where more or less completely out of the water. I climbed through the needle arch then swam round the outside of the stacks before heading back to shore with the incoming tide, followed by a dook in Dave's pool 🤣 Music is by Wrest (Click here to visit their website) Click here to view the YouTube Video from the outing A quick after work evening swim around the mini stacks and through the arch at Garrabost. Nice way to cool down by enjoying some of the amazing coastal scenery that Point has to offer.
