Swordale Bay Float - 31.03.2020

Enjoyed taking my mind away from what's going on in the world, even for a short time with a float over towards the reef at Swordale Bay in my Twammers. Just love looking at the colours under the water. Also spied a couple of oystercatchers. Duckman was saying 7.4 degrees average.

A cleansing dook at Swordale Bay after work today, changing into fresh clothes before going home. Almost soiled my tweedo's when I got in as a massive seal flipped right in front of me. Managed to get a few photo's of it. Duckman was saying 7.1 degrees average. Fair wind chill too....

Hanging up the Twammers till next week after a final swim of the working week with a quick dook at Swordale bay. Tide was in a bit so had a lovely slow ponder around the reef. Have to point out the fence that's popping out of the ground on the old broken slipway (check photo's). Duckman was saying 8-9 degrees average.

Swordale Bay Swim - 26.03.2020

Stopped off at Swordale bay after work today for a cool down swim in my Twammer's, as part of the allowed one exercise a day rule. Dolina and Billy (Dolina's dog) where there too, so we kept a minimum of 2 metres apart as per the social distancing rules. Cracking views to be had from this bay. Duckman was saying a toasty 9 degrees average. I won't be swimming other than to or from work....Keep safe and well everyone...

A self isolating walk out to Molinginis for a dook in the bay there, in me twammers (Harris Tweed Jammers), before heading back to the car. With breathtaking views to be had, it was great to get away from it all even for a short while. Duckman was saying 6.4 degrees. Found the Lomo rucksack very handy for this outing. Will be back again for more swim adventures when the world is back to normal...  Video to the right...

"He leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul." A great quote from a good book. Took the Twammers (Harris Tweed Jammers) for a social distancing swim at Bayble beach this morning before work. There was an odd shaped cloud towards the mainland, couldn't help but stare at it. Duckman was saying 6.2 degrees, 2 degrees air with a bitter wind chill. 250 metres towards my polar bear challenge tally. Loving the early morning swims....Sets you up for the day.....

Have enough light now for pre work swimming (yay)..This morning it was at Bayble beach in Point for a plunge into the waves. Beautiful being able to see the mainland hills in the distance. Sea was 6.4 degrees according to Duckman, Air was 3 degrees but it was the windchill that felt biting when getting in/out. 250 metres towards Polar Bear Challenge total.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

I've been a swimmer all my life and over the last several years I've done many challenging open water swims for charity all around our Islands which include the Sound of Barra & the Sound of Harris and both the Little & the Big Minch Channels to name a few.

Having a real passion for open water swimming, I spend a lot of my spare time looking for and discovering amazing new swim spots around the Islands.

I set up The Hebridean Sea Swimmers group in 2011 for all swimmers that live in or visit The Hebrides and it now has over 1000 members. I regularly meet up with visiting swimmers as I love to freely show off our Islands stunning swim locations.

SwimCamping and SwimHiking are my new adventures and having such an amazing playground on my doorstep is fantastic, double bagging my kit into the Lomo waterproof rucksack and swimming to an island for an overnight stay or longer is just the best.

Feel free to get in touch via the contact forms at the top of the page.
