Grand time swimming with Stuart at Tobson (Great Bernera) checking out the Lobster pools. Then it was over to Bosta to meet up with Joseph, who kayaked over to Chapel Beach (Little Bernera) while Stuart and myself swam over. We set up camp, had some scoff, beers & a good craic. Sunday morning was bright and sunny, making it hard to leave such a stunning place...till the next time.... Some photo's by Stuart...

Great time in Harris today with Fiona, Kim, Donnie & Ed. A hop skip and jump out to the tidal pool for a swim in the stunning surrounding scenery, then it was over to Huisinis for another dip in the turquoise Hebridean waters. Duckman was saying 14.5 to 15.5 degrees. A morning where the sea was more choppy than it looked. 5 early birds today at the UI Church swam over to the reef and back. Nice and bumpy but a good laugh too. Duckman was saying 15 degrees. Fantastic setting for an early morning swim at the UI church end of the braighe. Sea was like silk and duckman was saying a Carribbean 16.5 degrees. For more info about the UI church: https://uichurch.co.uk/ This morning's early bird swim session was through the arch at Garrabost with Mairi & Lucy. Plenty of wee jellyfish to keep us on our toes. Cracking morning for a mini adventure swim. Duckman was saying a tropical 14.6 degrees. West Side of Lewis Coastal Walk/Swim. Walked over to Tom Tolaige and also to see Stac a Phris. This coastline is just awesome. Had a wee swim near the arch at Tom Tolaige but deemed it unsafe to attempt a swim through. The sunlight beaming through was amazing to watch. Duckman was saying a choppy 13.6 degrees. Have to say that the Lomo shoes are great for walking over stones. Favourite adventure swimming footwear in 10 years. Superb swim down at the braighe this morning with Lucy and Malcolm. Had fun at the reef going under the arches, spotting wee fish and watching 2 crabs that were up to no good. Duckman was saying a toasty 14.6 degrees. A swim over from Reef beach in Uig to the island of Vacsay for an overnight camp took about 30 minutes while keeping an eye out for other water users. I'd never been here before and with stunning scenery along with so much to explore, I'll definitely be back again. Midge's dampened the fun but it is summertime in Scotland so it's to be expected. Photo's aren't in order btw. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacsay Great swim at the Ui Church side of the Braighe this morning with visiting swimmer Sarah and Malcolm. The cat looked after our kit while we headed over to the reef. Plenty of wildlife above and below. Malcolm borrowed my camera for the underwater video footage. Duckman was saying 12.9 degrees. Midweek early bird session down at the Braighe with Mairi and Malcolm today. The Ui church is always atmospheric as a backdrop as we swam over to the reef before returning to base. The sea was very clear and calm as you can see from the photo's. Duckman was saying 13.1 degrees. |
