Celebrating a milestone birthday with a 6am swim at Coll beach, my old swim training ground. Thanks to Kellie, Stuart, Dave and Seumas for coming along this morning. Good banter and a nice chilled start to the day. Duckman was saying 9 degree's average.

Traigh Sheilibhig Outing - 07.05.2022

A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends, by taking a stroll over the moor to traigh sheilibhig, a stunning oasis between the village's of Gress and Tolsta. We had a swim round to the arch and cave with the water being so clear in places it was just amazing. The cave also has a beach in it. The smell of the bird poop is pretty funky. We've been there before at a higher tide and been able to swim into the cave. The 30 minute walk back to the car's warms you up nicely.

Giordail with Shane - 07.05.2022

Cracking morning for an outing at Tolsta with visiting friend Shane Wasik from Oban. Shane runs Basking Shark Scotland (highly recommended), so we got on and in the water to head round from Giordail beach to the big arch (our version of durdle door) before going through the wee tunnel. I think Shane was taken aback by how stunning even this small bit of coastline was. With hardly a ripple on the water, it definitely was worth the early start.

Garrabost with Kenneth - 03.05.2022

Kenneth's first time sea swimming, so we found a sheltered area at garrabost rather than the braighe as planned. A few issues with the tow float belt not being wide enough 🤣 but we managed to sort it out. Kenneth did really well and we swam through a few of the small sea stacks. Great laugh. Duckman was saying 9.5 degrees average.

Point coastal swim - 02.05.2022

Great swim around some of the Point coast today with Dave. Seeing the Orca's in the distance didn't put us in. We had a superb meander through an arch plus checking out some cave's. The sea was so clear and we only had one seal following us. Duckman was saying 9 degree's average. Definitely going back for more exploring again.

Garry beach swim - 01.05.2022

Cracking way to start May by having a sunny sea swim at Garry beach this morning. Thanks to Kellie, Dave, Mairi and Nicole for coming along. Managed to get into the chamber of the sea stack arch but deemed it too dangerous to swim all the way through. Good craic though. Duckman was saying 8.2 degrees average.

Garrabost arch - 01.05.2022

Took Kellie for a swim through the arch at garrabost this evening. The sun was glistening across the sea in places. Duckman was saying 9.5 degrees average which was certainly higher than this morning at Garry beach. Anyway, love swimming through the arch and seeing the waterfall and beaches beyond.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

I've been a swimmer all my life and over the last several years I've done many challenging open water swims for charity all around our Islands which include the Sound of Barra & the Sound of Harris and both the Little & the Big Minch Channels to name a few.

Having a real passion for open water swimming, I spend a lot of my spare time looking for and discovering amazing new swim spots around the Islands.

I set up The Hebridean Sea Swimmers group in 2011 for all swimmers that live in or visit The Hebrides and it now has over 1000 members. I regularly meet up with visiting swimmers as I love to freely show off our Islands stunning swim locations.

SwimCamping and SwimHiking are my new adventures and having such an amazing playground on my doorstep is fantastic, double bagging my kit into the Lomo waterproof rucksack and swimming to an island for an overnight stay or longer is just the best.
