It was nice and calm down at Garrabost this afternoon for a swim through the arch with Kellie and Jacq. Only 1 seal keeping an eye on us and the sea was very clear too. Always a grand spot for a mini adventure.

Summer Solstice Sunset Swim - 21.06.2023

Kellie and myself headed over a wee bit earlier for a quick coastal walk at Dalbeg to get some views before we met up with Stuart, Ann, Milo and Jacq for a Summer Solstice Sunset Swim (Ann and Milo stayed watch onshore). The sea was nice and warm and very clear too. The beach got kind of busy for a short while. Anyway, it was a beautiful evening to remember.

Fab night at Bayble beach with Kellie and Connor. It was packed when we turned up in the evening, then it quietened down.

Garrabost Arch Swim - 08.06.2023

After a 13 hour shift, swimming through the Garrabost arch was just the cool down required. The sunlight was beautiful on the beaches in the distance as you go into the arch, it makes it look like you're swimming into Jurassic Park. Keep an eye for the birds flying about and some going into the sea. Had fun on the way back to the jetty doing loops around the mini sea stacks. Another favourite place of mine 😊

A short video edit showing a few of the birds from yesterday's swim through Garrabost arch. Watch to the end to see it in slow motion. The thumbnail has a shag or cormorant heading into the sea, look closely to spot it with the cliff in the background.

Nice evening for a training swim at Coll Beach with Kellie. Pretty flat calm and not too much of a current.

Point Coastal Swim - 04.06.2023

Fantastic adventure swim this morning with Seumas and Catherine, from Bayble beach over to Rubh' a'Cháise going through the channel between the island and Upper Bayble plus having a nosey in different nooks and crannies which included the spectacular blow-hole Toll na Roin (Seal's Hole) and Eilean na Mairbh (Island of the Dead). It's certainly an interesting stretch of coastline. Lots of wildlife (listen to the oyster catcher's in the video) and we could also see out to the Shiants. Definitely will be back there again.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

I've been a swimmer all my life and over the last several years I've done many challenging open water swims for charity all around our Islands which include the Sound of Barra & the Sound of Harris and both the Little & the Big Minch Channels to name a few.

Having a real passion for open water swimming, I spend a lot of my spare time looking for and discovering amazing new swim spots around the Islands.

I set up The Hebridean Sea Swimmers group in 2011 for all swimmers that live in or visit The Hebrides and it now has over 1000 members. I regularly meet up with visiting swimmers as I love to freely show off our Islands stunning swim locations.

SwimCamping and SwimHiking are my new adventures and having such an amazing playground on my doorstep is fantastic, double bagging my kit into the Lomo waterproof rucksack and swimming to an island for an overnight stay or longer is just the best.

Feel free to get in touch via the contact forms at the top of the page.
