Another fantastic day out with Kellie, Rebecca, Isla and Connor - this time on a boat trip (thanks to Borve Lodge) from Horgabost to Taransay landing at the beautiful Paible and after a briefing from the owner of the island the 5 of us hiked over to Uidh for a look around there then it was on to check out the natural arch which is stunning to see before we headed back to Paible where Kellie, Rebecca, Connor and myself had a swim in the crystal clear water's there. The 6 hours on Taransay passed in a flash and again we were lucky with the weather. We'll definitely be back there again. Click here to watch the YouTube Video from the outing.

A fantastic day for a hike in South Lochs from Orinsay over to the deserted village of Stiomrabhaigh with Kellie, Rebecca, Isla and Connor. On the way there we went up and over the hill and on the way back we went round the base of the hill for a change. Connor and myself had a swim in Tob Stiomrabhaigh which was amazingly clear. A bit of rain and midge's didn't spoil our afternoon out, we all enjoyed it as you can tell by the footage near the end of the video 🤣 Click here to watch the YouTube Video from the outing. Kellie and myself went on a boat trip with Hebridean Sea Tour's onboard 'The Spirit of The Hebrides' going from Barra to Mingulay. We wandered around the old deserted settlements and walked along the beautiful beach before going for a prearranged swim back out to our boat, It was jellyfish dodgems. Thanks to the guys for coming in on the tender for our hiking gear, making the swim a lot easier. Once everyone was back onboard the crew took us round the outside of Mingulay (through the stunning arch) and Pabbay then in between Sandray and Vatersay then back to the marina at Barra. Kellie and myself went for a hike up the hill (Beinn Scrien) on Eriskay before heading over the moor to check out an old settlement (Roisinis) near to the famous Whisky Galore beach where the SS Politician grounded. We walked and swam between the lush beaches and Calbhaigh, being weary not to go too far out. The water was so clear and easy to spot the odd jellyfish that was around. Once sorted we made our way back to the van by a different route thus seeing more of the amazingly scenic island. Both of us agree that it's a favourite of ours and we'll definitely be back again. Sunday SwimHike with Kellie, going from Hushinish gateway round via the slipway then joining the hill path over to Traigh Mheilien, walking round the coast to cravadale for a swim there and a play about with our 'surf dudes' before taking a short cut round the cottage side of loch na cleabhaig before heading over the hill to join up with the main path back to hushinish. Distance overall wasn't much but the terrain makes it more difficult. Definitely a walk with plenty of stunning views along the way. ps: you might notice the very rare occasion of Colin running. practicing for the scarper 🤣 Music is by Beluga Lagoon - click here to visit their website. A superb day out with Kellie, Rebecca, Isla and Connor firstly to the tidal pool at Conachro bay near Gobhig where Kellie, Connor and myself got in for a swim. After a picnic on the beach there we headed back to the car and stopped off at the Maraig river waterfall pool - this time Connor and myself got in for a dook, with each of us managing to get under the flowing waterfall. It's an ace place for a freshen up. It certainly was a grand day out in Harris ☺️ Click here to view the YouTube Video from the outing. A grand way to enjoy the last Saturday of January 2023 by swimming over to Eilean Shiphoirt and hiking up the hill. Took me around an hour and a half from the van to the summit, this includes faffing at both sides of the loch (for those who know me, I spend too much time faffing 🤣). Anyway, I got to the summit about 12 noon and was having lunch when I noticed an eagle in the distance and by the time I got the camera on, there was 5 eagles. One actually circled above me for a while. It was an absolute magical experience. The views from up top and even as you're ascending/descending is just breathtaking. Will definitely be back again. As wildswimming becomes more and more popular, those looking for the next level will find them self looking into swimpacking (Swim packing), swimcamping (swim camping) and Swimhiking (swim hiking) for their next level swim fix. Just as backpackers and bike packers take everything with them in one bag to sustain their wild adventures, swimpackers do the same. Hiking across remote areas, swimming across rivers, lochs and bays to find the perfect location for exploring and camping. This allows swimpackers to enjoy swimpacking adventures, places and experiences that very few people have. Like a 100 mile adventure up the west coast of Scotland, where no roads or lack of transport will hinder the adventure. Or deciding to swim from island to island in a large lake or off the coast. If you are a seasoned open water swimmer and you’re now inspired to try some swimpacking then read on for our full swimpacking gear guide. Took Kellie to north lochs this morning for a swim to a bay on the ranish peninsula and a hike over to and up beinn Mhor (104m) for some amazing panoramic views. We had a picnic at the trig point while watching the activity in the minch and loch erisort. It's definitely a favourite place and we'll be back again.
