Great day out in Pairc,South Lochs with Stuart, with a swim in Loch Gaineamhaich then a slog over the moor to Loch Shanndabhat swimming through the small channel to Loch Mhor Stiomrabhaigh. Getting out and following the river to the deserted village of Stiomrabhaigh (an oasis in the middle of moorland) for a look around before heading across to Loch Shaghachain for the final swim of the day with a walk back to the beautiful village of Orinsay. Duckman was saying anything from 13.6-14.5 degrees. Not forgetting 2 eagles, a buzzard and a large bird preying on a smaller bird (not sure if it got away) and a white throated diver. Stunning scenery! Click here for info on Stiomrabhaigh

The sun was out and glancing through the sea onto the sand below the surface. Love seeing kids enjoying the open water safely and we all had fun catching waves on the way back in. Duckman was saying 14.5 degrees on average. Click here for website details: SurfLewis & Harris - Open Water Swimming

Traigh Mhor Coastal Swim - 14.08.2019

A great afternoon of coastal swimming at traigh mhor (Tolsta) with Stuart & Ed. Sea was a tad too choppy for exploration of the caves and even the arch was not suitable for swimming through. You have to know when to say no. We did get through between the sea stacks for some further exploring on the other side. I was testing out the knuckleduster camera attachment that my brother Duncan made on his 3D printer. It worked really well with the lanyard. Duckman was saying 13.4 degrees on average. Good laugh in the surf coming back in to shore. So much to see and do there. Definitely be back for more coastal swim fun...

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

I've been a swimmer all my life and over the last several years I've done many challenging open water swims for charity all around our Islands which include the Sound of Barra & the Sound of Harris and both the Little & the Big Minch Channels to name a few.

Having a real passion for open water swimming, I spend a lot of my spare time looking for and discovering amazing new swim spots around the Islands.

I set up The Hebridean Sea Swimmers group in 2011 for all swimmers that live in or visit The Hebrides and it now has over 1000 members. I regularly meet up with visiting swimmers as I love to freely show off our Islands stunning swim locations.

SwimCamping and SwimHiking are my new adventures and having such an amazing playground on my doorstep is fantastic, double bagging my kit into the Lomo waterproof rucksack and swimming to an island for an overnight stay or longer is just the best.

Feel free to get in touch via the contact forms at the top of the page.
