Great way to start the day off, with a swim in the sea. Mill-pond conditions with a grey mist coming and going. Nice to meet up with Ayla for a breast stroke swim along to the river and back. Duckman was saying 15.3 degrees which is amazing for 6am. Last swim of July 2019.

Photo's (courtesy of Colin Cameron Photography & Scott Davidson) from this year's Hebridean Triathlon that I help organise on the West Side of Lewis. Well done to everyone who took part and thanks to all the helpers who made it a safe and smooth event...No thanks to the midges and rain...Was also great to see some of the people that I have coached taking part, with one of them remarking that the swim was their favourite section of the race. This year I was helping out with the time keeping. Was interesting to see the Triathlon from a spectators point of view..... Due to the warm temps we've been having, just had to get back in the sea again for another swim, no wetsuit this time. Millpond conditions. Duckman was saying 13.8 degrees. Plenty of crabs on the go as usual and 1 lion's mane. 5k @ 1hr35mins. Great way to start the day with a swim before work..... Great way to kick off the day with a swim at Coll beach alongside Stewart, Mhairi and Chris. Duckman was saying 13.7 degrees. Good visibility, no jellyfish but plenty of crabs. 1 lap done. Good times...We were hearing thunder from over Point way on exiting the water. Mhairi & Chris said that they had seen lightning over Tiumpan Head lighthouse as they had been getting out ahead of Stewart and myself. Fantastic swim/walk with Stuart this morning out to the Conachro bay tidal pool in Harris. A cracking natural lagoon full of wildlife and it even has a wee beach too which seemed a good place to scoff some jaffa cakes before they melted in the sun. Duckman was saying a toasty 14.6 degrees. An absolutely stunning place, some of the photo's just don't do it justice... Cracking coastal swim with Grant at Traigh Mhor, Tolsta this evening. Water clarity was amazing, along with swimming in caves, through an arch, stunning scenery and plenty of wildlife too. Duckman was saying 13 degrees. We'll definitely be coming back here for more fun... A Wild Swim Adventure this evening with Michael and Canna at Traigh Sheilibhig. Beginning with a ramble over the moor to a beautifully hidden secret beach. We swam round to the cave and there was plenty of wildlife above and below the surface. The seals were out for a nosey to find out what we were up to. I love showing off this secluded location to visitors. Duckman was saying 13.5 degrees average. Sea was well toasty as Duckman was saying anything from 21 degrees in the shallows to 17 degrees further out. What a day for it...Click here for website details: SurfLewis & Harris - Open Water Swimming Cracking morning for a swim walk adventure (or maybe it was more a walk swim) over on the west side of Lewis with Donna. Had a lovely semi skins swim in the sea with Duckman saying 12.8 degrees average. Water clarity is just amazing and it's teaming with sea-life. Thanks to Donna for taking the photo's. Had a wee picnic at Dalbeg beach after. Will be back again for sure. Good pre work skins swim down at Coll beach this morning with Grant. Sea was nice and calm as well as very clear. Plenty of crabs on the go. My Duckman and Grants Turdle were agreeing on 12 degrees. A great way to start the day..... A few photo's from this mornings pre work swim at Coll beach. Always a great way to start the day with a fresh skins swim in the sea. Plenty of crabs on the go with their pincers at the ready when they saw me swimming over them. Duckman was saying 13 degrees in the shallows. Sea was like a millpond. Stayed in for about 30 minutes or so. Great fun intro to open water swimming session with Tom & Thomas at Coll beach this evening. I could tell from watching them swim that they were both confident in the sea from the outset. A few pointers given to help improve their ows technique. Superb start guy's...ps, Duckman was saying 16 degrees in the shallows, colder further out.... Click here for website details: SurfLewis & Harris - Open Water Swimming What a lovely day for a trip to Harris to take Carol, Pippa and Helen out for an intro to open water swimming at Horgabost beach. You all did really well! Was a fun session. Duckman was saying 14.1 degrees average. Hope to meet up again with you soon...
