HEBSEASWIMMER - A HEBRIDEAN SWIM ADVENTURER

A few photo's from this morning's WITC intro to sea swimming. Water temp @ 5.5 degrees, which was actually colder than the last session, though this time it was warmer on land...

Good fun over at Dalmore today doing a fundraising photo-shoot with John Dyer. Not really a place for swimming due to the strong under currents...

A wee bit of advertising for 'Houd Vast' - where my friend Carl Atkinson works. Thanks to Ciara and Stuart for taking the photo's & to Loki for being his usual fun self.

Fantastic swim from Bosta beach over to Little Bernera with Chris and Stuart. A bit choppy in the lagoon as we were swimming into the current. Duckman was saying 5 degrees average.

Completed the Polar Bear Challenge today down at Garry beach (253 metres at 9 minutes). Too choppy to attempt swimming through the cave. Good fun in the waves. Duckman was saying 4.9 average. Even did a bit of beach cleaning.

Had a look at Garry beach this morning but it looked dodgy. Found a sprout though. Headed to Coll and did my Polar Bear Swim (336 metres @ 6 minutes) before taking folk out as part of the WITC 'intro to OWS'. Duckman was saying 4.7 degrees.

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

I've been a swimmer all my life and over the last several years I've done many challenging open water swims for charity all around our Islands which include the Sound of Barra & the Sound of Harris and both the Little & the Big Minch Channels to name a few.

Having a real passion for open water swimming, I spend a lot of my spare time looking for and discovering amazing new swim spots around the Islands.

I set up The Hebridean Sea Swimmers group in 2011 for all swimmers that live in or visit The Hebrides and it now has over 1000 members. I regularly meet up with visiting swimmers as I love to freely show off our Islands stunning swim locations.

SwimCamping and SwimHiking are my new adventures and having such an amazing playground on my doorstep is fantastic, double bagging my kit into the Lomo waterproof rucksack and swimming to an island for an overnight stay or longer is just the best.

Feel free to get in touch via the contact forms at the top of the page.
