Feels like ages since my last decent training swim. Anyway it was good to get back in the sea again. Always funny to see the wee crabs floating about underwater with the current. Swam over plenty of shoals of sand eels during the 10.5 miles achieved.... Click here to view the YouTube Video. Cracking evening for a swim I've not done before, going from the Braighe over towards Ramadal then past Stac Swordail and across to the bay there (a wee recce for my upcoming challenge). On the way back I investigated some amazing caves with stunning rock formations.. #point360challenge Click here to view the YouTube Video. A more direct training swim this time from the Braighe to Portnaguran rather than hugging the coast. I had planned to swim back with the incoming tide but I timed it wrong (I was quicker than I thought I would be) and the tide still had another hour or so till it turned. So it was a shorter swim than expected but still enjoyable all the same. More open water swim training for my Point360Challenge over the summer months which is attempting to swim round the Point peninsula (approx 18 miles - link below) whilst others in the team are doing different activities, all to raise money for The Leanne Fund. On the Broadbay side of the Braighe, a mix of having to swim around the outside of the big reef due to the low tide until it came in far enough so I could swim on the inside of the reef. Plodded along and managed 16k before getting out. Spotted an old wheel that's obviously been there for a while and on the return leg of my last lap, I noticed a fish jumping quite high out of the sea. Thanks to DK (boat support) for being available today for a recce, for our upcoming Point360Challenge, between Bayble and Portvoller with Kellie (kayaking) and myself (swimming). Seemed to get to Sheshader bay in a decent time but it took a while to get across it, just chipping away against the current. It was good to see the houses at Portvoller and many thanks to Annemiek for a lift back to the van at Sheshader, saved a walk for us.
