Gary got in contact with me recently about wanting to give SwimCamping a go. Having met up and been swimming as well as chatting about kit etc..the time came for his first island adventure, with myself opting for Cealasaigh. The forecast stayed true with a wet and windy Friday evening but the sunny Saturday morning made it even better. Going to Cealasaigh we swam through the Kyle's before landing on the slipway on Little Bernera for a boggy stomp over to the lagoon where the colours are just beautiful followed by a wee swim across to the stoney shore on Cealasaigh itself. Camp was set up before dinner and darkness. Too many clouds for any starry sky gazing and too wet for a campfire on the shore. The seals in the lagoon were still there on Saturday morning waiting for us to get back in the sea again as we took a different route back across to Little Bernera and also back to Bosta beach. I think Gary enjoyed his first dive into the mad world of SwimCamping, he certainly did well and had all the required gear from his bike packing days.. Click here to watch the YouTube Video

Cracking weather for a quick overnight SwimCamp to Cealasaigh. Swam from Bosta beach to a stoney shore on Little Bernera, hiked to another bay and swam round into the lagoon before landing on Cealasaigh to set camp for the night. Tested out the Speedster stove with wind shield and the Alpkit MytiMug 650ml and it worked a treat. What a sunset it was too, going down behind Bearasaigh. Had a decent kip, light breakfast before making my way back to Bosta on Monday morning via a swim through the kyle's. What a magical place it is..... Click here to watch the YouTube Video |
